If you flush baby wipes, &#8216;flushable wipes&#8217;, condoms, cotton buds, or anything else apart from toilet paper, it will block the drains and put the pumps out of action which means our flats will be flooded with sewage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Amber warning light<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A flashing amber light on the pump station (north end of car park) means a sewage pump emergency. See <a href=\"https:\/\/www.millbankoxford.co.uk\/index.php\/contacts\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"40\">Contacts<\/a> page.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">In your Bathroom<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\"><\/mark><\/mark><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Wipes, condoms, sanitary products, cotton wool, and dental floss are some of the biggest offenders in our sewers. Throw them in the bin, not the loo. The three Ps is the best rule to remember when it comes to what\u2019s flushable; pee, poo, paper. Nothing else!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\"><strong>\u2018Flushable\u2019 wipes are not safe to put in the loo<\/strong><\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many companies market products as \u2018flushable\u2019. But these wipes contain plastic, so they won\u2019t break down the same way as toilet paper does. Although they\u2019ll probably disappear when you flush, they won\u2019t completely leave your drains, so pop them in the bin to be safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">In your Kitchen<\/mark><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Resist the temptation to tip old food down the kitchen sink and be sure to scrape it in the bin. If it\u2019s more of a \u2018liquid\u2019 food like gravy, use some kitchen roll to soak it up and then chuck the paper in the bin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">Cooking fat and oil<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cooking fat and oils will eventually turn solid and build up in your pipes. Instead of pouring them down the sink, collect them in a container like a jam jar or yoghurt pot and leave them to cool down. Once they\u2019ve set, scoop them out and pop them straight in the bin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your local council may also have a special way to dispose of fat, oil and grease \u2013 check with them if you\u2019d like to find out more.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Don&#8217;t block the drains Toilet paper only Please be careful about what you flush down the toilet.
